Churchmouse Yarns & Teas was founded on Bainbridge Island, Washington in 2000 with a mission to create a place of community where all are welcome.
Founder Kit Hutchin added “Teas” to her mix from the beginning because she felt yarn shops might seem intimidating to someone who didn’t know how to use fiber – “I don’t belong.” With tea, groceries and lifestyle items, the not-yet needleworker can drop in comfortably, and then be captivated by the colors and texture of fiber – “I love this!” Next thing you know, another devotee of the craft.
Over 20 years, many things have changed: fantastic new fibers and teas, a website that attracts a worldwide audience, and an enhanced offering of lifestyle products including several made exclusively for Churchmouse.
One thing that will never change is the Churchmouse mission to be an inspiring, encouraging and helpful community that is open to everyone.
Drop by the shop in the center of the downtown Bainbridge Island village. Or give them a call at 206-780-2686. Or see what’s new online on Instagram, Facebook or at churchmouseyarns.com.
