Happy Holidays

|
The holidays are important to all of us, regardless of how we celebrate the season. In this photo section to the left, you will see a rotating selection of photos throughout this holiday time, so I guess, we are also celebrating diversity at the same time. If you still have Jared Flood items that you would like to share, by all means, please send in your photos and I will be excited to post them up here for you, but we can move on to other items now too. So lets "flip on the switch" of the holiday season, and enjoy all the season has to offer!

Melissa is at it again! How about this bag? In this photo you actually get to see Melissa. She knit the 'Knitting Needle Knitting Bag' by Pam Allen. Melissa used Knitpicks Cadena for this project.

Melissa is a friend of mine from my Wednesday night knitting group. She knit the Top-Down Shoulder Warmer by Laura Chau using Berroco's Ultra Alpaca. This is a Christmas gift for the sister is California.....so it's ok to post now. Nice work Melissa - see you Wednesday night.

Jamie of Columbus, Ohio, knit this wonderful 'A Recipe for Fish' baby blanket - pattern by April Broken. Jamie used Plymouth Yarn's Encore DK. It's happy and gender neutral. Jamie's LYS is The Yarn Shop also in Columbus Ohio. Thanks for sharing Jamie.
Rachel from Grand Rapids, Michigan, crocheted this beautiful angel entitled Pineapple Cascade Angel by Cylinda Mathews. Rachel used Crochet with Aunt Lydia's classic crochet cotton size 10 for the angel. I just love it, on the table or on top of the tree. Beautiful Rachel, thanks for participating.
Anne lives in Orange County, California, and she not only knits, but designs the cutest hats. She has a blog called Crafty Diversions where you can purchase her patterns. The hat below, she calls Alice Paul, and she used the Fibre Company's Canopy in fingering weight to knit this hat. I really like her designs, their fun!! Thanks Anne for sharing your work.
Lorraine is from my neck of the wood here in Washington, Maple Valley to be exact. She has knit these cute little baby mittens, and knit the icord string to attach the two. I think that's genius because we all know they fall off those tiny hands. The pattern is from Kaitlyn Wong of Sassy Stitchess. There's nothing more adorable than a baby all bundled up in the winter. Thanks Lorraine for participating, and thank you Kaitlyn for the pattern!
Tammy lives in Delevan, New York and knit these nice holiday mittens. They are so pretty! The pattern she used is a Classic Elite Yarns pattern, #456, Warm Fuzzy Mittens. She did the lovely embellishment herself. Tammy's LYS is The Wooly Lamb.
Here is an entry from The Purl District, a yarn shop in Silverton, Oregon. Are these not the cutest hats ever? Stop by and take a look at these hats in person if you are in the area. I especially like the one that looks like a cupcake - come on! All great give ideas for some one on your list.

Joanna Johnson comes to us from Loveland, Colorado, and we show another Bubbles sweater, but in different colors. Joanna chose marlin, honeydew, jalepeno, silver sage and seafoam in the Comfy Sport by Knit Picks. This is a very popular baby sweater. It looks like this little guy has some room to grow, which is nice when we've gone to all the effort in our knitting. Joanna has started up a new publishing company call 'Slate Falls Press'. They will be focusing on a new genre of knitting books. They are working on their website as I type, so look for that in February of 2010. Thank you Joanna for participating, and good luck on your venture!!

Adrienne is from Virginia, and she knit the Little Bubbles Baby Set by Nina Isaacson. Adrienne used Knit Picks Comfy Sport in colors cashew, ivory, honeydew and creme brulee. What baby wouldn't look adorable in this outfit? CUTE!
Lisa is also from Fairbanks, Alaska, and I love this backpack that she made. It was a kit from L. B. Evans Handknits which sadly has been discontinued. The yarn that Lisa used was from Rowan, Magpie Aran. Very cool! Lisa's LYS is INUA Wool Shoppe also in Fairbanks. Thanks Lisa for participating.
Julie from Fairbanks, Alaska knit up these mittens using a pattern by Mei Lynne Travis called Mittens from the Top: Any Size, Any Gauge, Top-Down. The yarn Julie used is the Collinette Jitterbug.....not just for sock eh? Thanks for sharing your work Julie, and thanks Mei Lynne for the help on the mittens.
Bonnie lives in Delaware, and she knits the cutest toys; bears, bunnies, hamsters, and mice - oh my! But here you see one of her Christmas Stockings that she originally purchased as a kit. She used Paton's Classic Wool for most of the stocking with some mohair yarn for the sheep. Very cute and I love the Baa...Humbug - awesome! Here is more from Bonnie.
Patrice is from Little Rock, Arkansas. She replicated the wreath that Starbucks had ?last year?, I loose track of time. In any event, Patrice calls this her Yarn Wreath. Patrice used Lion Brand Holiday Homespun, Jiffy Solid, and Wool-Ease Thick & Quick. She says you'll need an 18" wire form, styrofoam balls, glass ornaments and glue stick. She also said it was really fun to make. I liked it at Starbucks, and I like your wreath too Patrice. Thank you for participating.
Kim DeMoise of Buckeye, Arizona crocheted this Christmas Tree Bookmark by Suzetta Williams of Bellingham, Washington. Kim used Coats & Clark's O.N.T. Speed-Cro-Sheen to make the bookmark. Another great gift for teacher, mailman/woman, hairdresser.....you could even add a book like Kim did here. Thanks ladies.....
Nancy Fry lives in Connecticut, and she is the designer of the Twilight Bella Swan's Baseball Scarf, seen in the Twilight movie - not the currant one out now, but the first one. Nancy has been kind enough to share her pattern with us, so if you have any Twilight fans on your Christmas list, maybe think about this for them. Nancy used Knitpicks Wool of the Andes in this scarf - 2 skeins in Tulip, 1 Carnation, 2 Dove Heather and 2 Coal. Happy Knitting, and thank you Nancy~
Darcy is a resident of Edwards, California. She knit this adorable 'Mini Christmas Stocking Ornament' by Little Cotton Rabbits. I think this is the cutest. I'd knit one of these for everyone in my Wednesday Night Knitting Group for a Christmas gift from me. DARLING~ Here is the free pattern. Darcy even has her own blog - check it out...
Jessi, is from the Birmingham area of Alabama, and has contributed before. Here are her "no purl" Monkey socks, pattern by Cookie A. The yarn that Jessi used is from Blue Moon Fiber Arts - Sock that Rock, lightweight in colorway Jade. I'm in LOVE with this color. Good job Jessi, and thanks for contributing again!
My dear friend Lynn, who I knit with every Wednesday night, knit this set. The hat is Jared Floods Relm hat, then Lynn proceeded to follow the pattern sequence to knit a matching scarf - she's a smart one that Lynn. The yarn that Lynn chose for the project is by Rowan, Yorkshire Tweed DK. You can find the pattern for this hat in the Fall/Winter 2008 issue of Knit.1 magazine or you can purchase the pattern on the Vogue website. Nice work Lynn, thank you for kicking off our holiday season.
