         YARN SHOP DAYS

This month will be devoted to our local yarn shops.  Now I will warn you, the proprietors of these stores are busy folks and they may not have the time or resources to join us.  Please feel free to wander into your LYS with your digital camera, iphone or Blackberry and get a snap on your own and submit, so they aren't left out, with consent of course.  On another note, there are 1,526 yarn shops in the country.  We don't expect posts from all, but one from every state would be nice..  I think this will be super fun and different than we've done in the past.  The photo you see on the left is, my LYS Churchmouse Yarns & Teas

Harriet of Knit-A-Bit yarn shop in Westfield, New Jersey, sent in this cardigan.  It's called the Cabin Fever Katie Twist sweater.  They used Skacel Batika to knit up this sample for their store.  Thank you Harriet for this entry -- we now have New Jersey on the board!!

Hi Mary -
Attached are pictures of a children's cardigan sweater made by Sue Connary, owner of HodgePodge Yarns and Fibers, Newport, NH. The sweater is made with the fleece of her Romney sheep, which she handspun.   A large part of the HodgePodge customers are spinners, both with and without their own sheep and Sue sells many varieties of raw and processed fleece.

Hi Mary, Thanks for doing such a great job.  My favorite store photo is attached, it's called the Saxon Rib Stole - my design - pattern available on my website!  The yarn used ios Diakeito Diagrouvefine, a wool/alpaca blend from Japan.  It has a wonderful subtle self striping pattern, as you can see.
