Wearin' of the Green

|
March is a great month! Daylight savings time begins, we have the awesome St. Patrick's Day, spring arrives, and we have Palm Sunday and the First Day of Passover. As we usher out Winter, let's celebrate the arrival Spring with the color green. Although 'pink' is truly my favorite color -- green seems like the color of life. My son Kevan graduated from college last May, and we took a trip to Ireland. I've always loved St. Paddy's day, and Ireland is my heritage, but after having been there, I truly am in love with all things Irish. If you are a fan of America's Knitting on Facebook, go look at my photos of Dublin in my vacation album. I am in hopes of visiting the Emerald Isle again in my life time. Please submit your knitted items that are green; all of us as knitters love to see what everyone is working on. I'd like yarn shops to join in too. So, without further ado, get your green on~ |
Jean has the knitting fever. Another project for a grand daughter. But, how fun for Easter. This project was made with Caron Simply Soft yarn. Thanks Jean for sharing all your knitting with us.

Another entry from Jean in North Dakota. Jean has been knitting for grandchildren, and here is another little set from the Vintage Knits book by Hadley Fierlinger. The Ladybug buttons are a sweet touch. Thanks Jean!

Marieke lives in Berkeley, California, and she knit this awesome hat. It's called Nubby Brim Cloche by Eileen Tepper. The yarn that Marieke used is Malabrigo Yarn Chunky. It's a really cute hat Marieke, and it looks super cute on you. Thank you so much for sharing your work.
This just in from Jean on her blackberry -- because that's just how cool she is. The pattern for this little set can be found in Vintage Knits by Hadley Fierlinger. You are so awesome Jean, and so is your knitting, beautimus!! I've never seen a blanket done that way, very creative. AND, the ribbon just makes it. VERY SWEET! Jean is from Hebron, North Dakota!

Kim, a regular contributor from Texas, is sharing her Basketweave Baby Blanket by Lion Brand Yarn. The yarn Kim used is Bernat Baby Sport Solid in Green. Nice work Kim, really pretty!

The pattern comes out of the book Whimsical Little Knits, so ask for this at your LYS. Sai's LYS is Stitch House Dorchester, in Dorchester, Mass. Heather is from Alabama, and she has a couple of entries for us. First, her Clapotis by Kate Gilbert and Knitty. She used Lorna's Laces Lion & Lamb Multi.

Secondly, Heather knit the Lush Swingy Jacket by Veronik Avery using Rowan RYC Silk Wool DK. This pattern is by Classic Elite #9092 Autumn Book 1 -- ask for this at your LYS. Very fun and different! Missy lives in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, and has knit the February Lady Sweater by Pamela Wynne. The yarn that Missy used is Madelinetosh Tosh DK. This little sweater would be nice this time of year - perfect for Spring. Good work Missy, and thanks for sharing your work.
Amy comes to us from the great state of Illinois, and she has made a Calorimetry by Kathryn Schoendorf and brought to us by Knitty. Amy used Colinette Jitterbug for hers. I think this would be good for Spring and Summer. Head bands always pinch too tight and there are so many fun yarns on the market and all the new spring cottons are coming out. Well done Amy and thanks for participating.
Ingrid lives in Tacoma, Washington, but her mom Mary lives in Spokane, Washington, and owns and runs A Grand Yarn there. Ingrid knit this very sweet cardigan called Pea Pod Baby Cardigan by Kate Gilbert. The yarn that Igrid used is Sirdar Snuggly Baby Bamboo DK. What I love the most about this cardigan is that it totally looks like a regular sweater with the side button. I find baby sweaters are so hard to get over babies head -- this solves that problem. I love it Ingrid! Ingrid's LYS is A Grand Yarn, in Spokane, Washington, a sponsor of this website.
Kirsten lives in Massachusetts, and she is sharing her St. Patrick's Day Cloth designed by Kris Knit. The yarn that Kirsten used is from Lily, Sugar'n Cream Solid. If you have stash, you have just enough time to knit one up quick for your best Irish friend and her kitchen or bath. Thanks Kirsten, good craic!
Here is a very interesting scarf that I saw last Saturday at the Allyn Knit Shop in Allyn, Washington. It's a felt thing. But you'd have to stop in for yourself to get all the details of it from Lois. I thought it was interesting, AND it's green. They also have a fun green felt hat and a marvelous green afghan, but my photo turned out blurry. The camera was set on an add setting and someone had too much coffee.

My dear friend Erin emailed me this photo for entry. I made this shawl for Erin for her 50th birthday present. I held a number of different yarns together, all of which I can't even remember, but I do remember the pattern belonged to Lion Brand; it was their Prayer Shawl. Erin's daughter Meghan is the model. Thanks for the memories Erin~

Carol Bristol of Vermont, a regular contributor to our projects page has sent in her Brookfield Bag - her own design. This is a very smart looking bag, styled after many current designs of leather handbags. Carol used Cascade yarns 220 Wool and also some Lamb's Pride on this bag. Fabulous Carol AND IT"S GREEN YAY!!!
