It's all about the kids.....and the socks.....

I had kids in the schedule for the month of August. I was thinking toys mainly, but I guess all things kids. BUT, with Sock Summit upon us, I thought I'd throw socks into the mix as well.
My friend Jana will start us off here with her Papaver Sok by Anne Hanson of Knitspot. This is perfect really because Jana purchased the Cherry Tree hill Supersock Merino yarn for these socks at Sock Summit 2009.
Pink is my favorite color, but no, these weren't for me. Jana, myself, our friends Sandy, Chris, Lynn & Kate will be making the trip to Sock Summit again this year. It was really fun last time and will be again I'm sure

One of the Wednesday Night Knitters that I knit with, Wendy, knit these chic Turkish Bed Socks by Churchmouse Yarns & Teas. The yarn that Wendy used is made by Regia and called 4 Fach Haltbar Extra Merino Twist. These are a very new and popular pattern, but then Wendy is always on the cutting edge. Thanks Wendy!

Antonio, out of Texas, crocheted these adorable Sylvesters! This takes me back to my childhood - what kid wouldn't love holding this little guy? The Sylvester patterns is out of the Leisure Arts #3646 Looney Tunes: Bugs & Pals to Crochet booklet. Antonio used Red Heart Super Saver Solids for this project. Thank you Antonio for participating!!
Jadee comes to us from New Jersey, and she knit these fun summertime Watermelon socks, complete with seeds. I LOVE THESE - they are happy!! The pattern is Watermelon basic sock pattern by Abigail Grasso, and so is the yarn - it's called Abi Grasso Watermelon Self Striping Sock Yarn With Seeds. The pattern is a free Ravelry download and the yarn is acquired on Abi's Etsy site. Thank you Jadee for introducing us to Abi!
Rhonda, owner of Main Street Yarn Shop in Hartford, Wisconsin, crocheted this adorable toy. it's the green pig in Angry Birds. The name of the pattern is Angry Bird The Green Pig by Nikki Chavengsub. Rhonda used Cascade Yarns 200 Wool for this project, and somebody looks pretty happy. My family is obsessed with Angry Birds. The pattern is a free Ravelry download. Thank you Rhonda!
Melissa in Ohio knit the Tweed Baby Blanket, by Jared Flood using Cascade Yarns Ecological Wool. I love the colors of the blanket, and adore the photo. Thank you Melissa for sharing your good work. Melissa got her wool at Knots Knitting on the Square in Chardon, Ohio. You can get the photo on Ravelry and/or Brooklyn Tweed, it is a pay for pattern.
Lisa comes to us from South Carolina. She knit the Eenie, Meenie, Minie, Moe Preemi Hat by Karen Bledsoe. Lisa used South West Trading Company Vickie Howell Love yarn. When I think of Summer, I think of the kids, like summer and Christmas belong to kids. We are celebrating kids and socks this month. Thank you Lisa for participating.
Here is my other friend Lynn with her Oviatt by Melissa J. Goodale, that is Stick Chick Knits. Lynn knit these socks using Hazel Knits Artisan Sock in Aurora Borealis (also purchased at Sock Summit 2009). This pattern is a free Ravelry download for those who are members there.
