Churchmouse Yarns & Teas is my LYS here on Bainbridge Island in Washington state. They are starting the new year with a focus on fair isle knitting. The store will be bringing in Janine Bajus in April with a couple of workshops, a fair isle tam and choosing colors for fair isle work. The store is also offering EZ's Fair Isle Yoke Sweater class and Fair Isle Tam class featuring a design by Sandy Blue.
I have always loved Elizabeth Zimmerman's fair isle yoked sweaters, and the Lopi yoked sweaters as well. The books you see to the left are my color books.
Color work can also include intarsia work and as you all know we always include crochet. I'm taking my que from the Churchmouse Yarns & Teas and will kick off 2011 with Color Works. Email over your entries and I'll post them up. mary@americasknitting.com |

Lynn from Michigan made these dandy mittens and she will start us off this new year. Lynn used Brown Sheep Nature Spun Sport.
Been working on these mitts over the holiday. They were inspired by Juju’s Amanda’s Mittens. I used her cuff recipe, and the tiny pattern from some Starmore mittens I’ve been working on, and then played with some embroidery – something I haven’t tried before. I was so pleased with the way they turned out that I started a second pair. The first pair was gifted to Susan in thanks for all her encouragement over this past year. They are lovely indeed Lynn, thank you so much for sharing your inspiring creativity!
