Sherry and Rainy Day Yarns in Gig Harbor, Washington just celebrated their first anniversary! Congratulations to them — and I remember when they opened. It’s like kind of store where you basically love everything they have but can show restraint because at the same time it somehow makes you think of your projects and you think you want to finish them, and then regret not getting all the stuff you wanted when you were there. All more reason to go back again for a visit, except for the fact that there is a slight anxiety about whether your yarn will still be there. Have no fear, Sherry will ship it to you.
Although it is Sherry’s business, her sister plays and hand as well with stitch markers, bags, and the mother at times fills and helps. I guess you could say, it’s a family business. 
The store has a special relationship with local yarn makers Sleepy Hollow and Cantering Crow, and they also pride themselves on stocking yarns that are made in the United States. For the special one year anniversary, Cantering Crow made up a special dye just for them. Sure, the colors are pretty, but Sherry had the yarn already knit up into a sample and it was even prettier all knit up. 
Rainy Day Yarns is an active store on Facebook, and has regular KAL’s and classes, so no need to worry that you will be left hanging. Wanting to learn fair isle, they have you covered, ready to tackle a sweater, no worries, socks…right up their alley.
